Adeline Ledesma Horner Teague (1924-2008) of California served in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) at the end of WWII. Adeline Teague was born in San Diego, California, in 1924, to Mexican migrant farmworkers. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1941 and attended Los Angeles City College while working at the Wholesale Terminal Market. After college, she went to work for Pan American World Airways. Teague enlisted in the WAVES in June 1945, on her twenty-first birthday, and was sent to Hunter College, New York, for boot camp.
