Alice Doretta Lentz (1921-2009) was born in Baltimore, Maryland on 7 May 1921, and was the second child of Loula (Allen) and Herbert J.J. Lentz. Lentz served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps during World War II as a surgical nurse holding the rank of ensign. She was stationed at the United States Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After World War II , Lentz was employed at the Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Hospital in New York City for forty years before retiring to Seabring, Florida. She died on 26 December 2009.
