Colonel Amie Modigh (1933-2017), of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, served in the Army Nurse Corps Reserves from 1967 to 1995. Amie Modigh was born in Stockholm, Sweden on 13 July, 1933 and she graduated in 1957 with a degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut. She was employed as a nurse and instructor at Cornell Medical Center in New York City, and became an American citizen in 1960. She moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1964 to complete her master's degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina [UNC]. Modigh became an instructor at UNC's nursing school upon graduation.
