Buren Rose (1919-2018) of Jefferson City, Missouri, served in the civil service from 1942 to 1943 and later worked in radio broadcasting. Buren Rose was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, on February 14, 1919. She graduated from Simonsen Junior High School in 1936. Shortly afterward she married Richard Day and moved to Kansas City, where she worked as a switchboard operator. They later moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she worked babysitting for her brother. In August of 1942 she joined the civil service and was stationed at the San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center (now Lackland Air Force Base) where she was the driver for Colonel Morris Taber.
