The Class of 1899 folder contains material pertaining to the 1899 graduating class of North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School (State Normal, now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Included in the folder are programs from the 1899 commencement ceremony, Class Day Exercises, and a program titled Representative Essays which were read by the students. There are two alumnae directories, which include students' maiden and married names, and years of attendance. There are two letters, one written by Geneva Graves to Minnie Huesey, and one written in 1952 by Johnsie Coit to Charles Adams. Of particular interest are a poem written by Mary Collins titled Story of Old 99, the lyrics for the class song, and the script for the play Way Down Upon the Stygian River.
