Dorothy Rechel (b. 1935) of Cincinnati, Ohio, served in the WAC (Women's Army Corps) from 1953 to 1976. Dorothy Rechel was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1935. She graduated from high school in 1952 and went on to work at Atlas National Bank. Rechel enlisted in the WAC in 1953, at the age of eighteen. She completed basic training and leadership school at Fort Lee, New Jersey. In early 1954, she completed medical training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, while she worked as a mail clerk. In August of 1955, she was sent overseas to Orleans, France, where she performed clerical duties for the United States Army Corps of Engineers.
