Henrietta Pearl Terry (1904-1981), of Virdin, Illinois, served in the United States Navy WAVES from 1942 to 1945. Henrietta Pearl Terry, a professor of mathematics, joined the WAVES in 1942. Lieutenant Terry was trained as an aerologist and stationed at the United States Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia. As an aerologist she accompanied many flight crews, but according to her diary and flight log she learned to fly and often piloted these planes herself.
