Irja Miriam Ripatte (1921-1996) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, served as an aviation machinist's mate in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II. Irja Miriam Ripatte of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was born on 12 May 1921. Ripatte was inducted into the WAVES at Cedar Falls, Iowa, on 15 December 1942. On 29 January 1943, she was sent to the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Memphis, Tennessee. In May 1943, Ripatte was stationed at Naval Air Station Memphis (Tennessee).
