Janet Murphy MacCubbin (1919-2010) of Brooklyn, New York, served in the American Red Cross from 1944 to 1946. Jane Emmitt MacCubbin was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 4, 1919. She moved to Montclair, New Jersey, at age three with her father and mother and elder sister. MacCubbin attend college at the Women's College at the University of North Carolina (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1937 to 1941 and majored in Secretarial Administration. Upon graduation from WC she was employed with the financial firm J.P. Morgan & Company. In the fall of 1944 MacCubbin enlisted in the American Red Cross due to the letters of a friend serving with the organization in South Africa.
