Juanita Webster (1918-2002), of Henderson County, North Carolina, a career nurse, served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1942 to 1945. She later worked in hospitals in Louisiana and Texas and with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals. Juanita Webster was born in Henderson County, North Carolina. She graduated from high school in 1934 and worked three years in a hosiery mill before beginning nurse's training in 1938 at Gallinger Municipal Hospital (now D.C. General Hospital) in Washington, D.C. After completing her training in 1941, Webster worked briefly as a private duty nurse before volunteering for the army shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
