Julia Tamer Kerr (1915-1996) served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1945 to 1968. Lt. Col. Julia Tamer Kerr (1915-1996) of Pawcatuck, Connecticut, was born 17 May 1915 to Salim Sa'ad and Maryam Tamer. She graduated from Westerly High School in Westerly, R.I., in 1933 and the Mount Vernon Hospital School of Nursing in Mount Vernon, N.Y., in 1938. She also received a postgraduate degree in operating room nursing techniques from the Michael Reese Hospital Medical Center in Chicago. In 1979, Kerr obtained a bachelor's degree in history from Connecticut College. Kerr served on active duty with the Army Nurse Corps for twenty-three years.
