Paula Silverman Isenberg (1912-2011), of Brooklyn, New York, served as an Air Wac in the Women's Army Corps from 1943-1945. Paula Isenberg was born in 1912 in Brooklyn, New York. She was raised in the Brooklyn area and attended Brooklyn College. Isenberg joined the Women's Army Corps (WAC) in 1943 and was sent to Massachusetts for basic training. She was attached to the Army Air Forces (Air WACs Her first duty assignment was in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a reporter. She was then sent to Fairfield-Suisun Army Air Base for overseas training, and then to Hawaii, where she spent fifteen months.
