Sue Lamm Gurley (b. 1948), of Wilson, North Carolina, served as a nurse with the Air Force Nurse Corps from 1970-1972. Sue Lamm-Gurley was born 1 August 1948 in Wilson County, North Carolina. She grew up on a farm that sold tobacco and cotton and graduated from high school in 1966. After high school, Lamm-Gurley went to Wilson School for Nursing. She graduated in 1969, became a registered nurse (RN) and then immediately joined the U.S. Air Force. Lamm-Gurley went to Shepard Air Force Base, Texas in January 1970 for officer training.
