Frances Stanley Trembath (1915-2006), of Still Pond, Maryland, served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1942-1945. Frances Jane Stanley was born 25 September, 1915 to Ruth Mae and Harry C. Stanley in Still Pond, Maryland. Her early life was spent in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania. From October 1935 to July 1936 Stanley attended Waynesboro Business College in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and earned a Stenographer diploma. She worked for First National Bank and Trust and as a secretary for Dr. R. C. Bridges in Waynesboro. From 1938 to 1941 Stanley attended the University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland.' She worked for University Hospital in Baltimore from February to June of 1941. From September 1941 to August 1942 she worked at Waynesboro Hospital. Stanley was assigned to active duty as a second lieutenant with the Army Nurse Corps on 24 August, 1942. From August 1942 to January 1945 she was stationed at Station Hospital, Camp Rucker, Alabama. She died 6 September, 2006 in Wilmington, Delaware.
