Trigg was the Bennett Coiiege president.“47 After his ninth year as

president, 1925ai926, the coiiege ceased to be coweducationai and passe ed into the hands of a new Methodist agency and a new president.148 Thus Trigg, unknowingly, stood at the end of an era.

Frank Trigg was born a siave in the Governor's mansion in Richmond, Virginia. After the Civii War, he drove a scavenger wagon in order to earn money for his education. He graduated From Hampton Instiu tute and served in other useful capacities before becoming president of Bennett.M9

While Trigg was President, in 19209 the Freedmen”s Aid and Southern Education Society changed its name to the Board of Education. This board then became responsible for the supervision of the coiiegenjso
