properly cultivated oneo The aim was to be carried out by creating a model farm from the Bennett campus, Examples of the success were given by Peeler as 500 heads of cabbage from one-tenth of an acre, 75 bushels of sweet potatoes from one and one—fourth acres, and a grain production in 1911—1912 that had increased three times since 19064907.“6

In the year l9ll-l9l2, there were ten actual faculty members, including Peeler, and omitting two administrative workers and the three women on the Kent Home faculty. Onemhalf of these ten had advanced de- grees, three of them Master of Arts degrees and two, doctorate degrees (Doctor of Divinity, Doctor of Medicine).117 Their most important qualification, however, to Peeler, was that they were Christian teach= ers‘,H8
