Other types of information were also found in Greensboro. Val- uable sources of the Caldwelanones Room of the Greensboro Public Libra- ry included city directories and numerous newsPaper clippings from the vertical files. The office of the Guilford County Register of Deeds contained copies of original land transactions. Residents of Greens— boro who had been students at Bennett prior to its reorganization in 1926, and other Greensboro persons with knowledge of the college, gave quite interesting and informative accounts of the school as they had known it.

The North Carolina Collection of the Library of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill also provided vertical file informa- tion about the collegeo Through its cross-references, two autobiogra- phies of former Bennett students were found in the main collection. The Divinity School Library of Duke University contained many valuable official records of both northern and southern branches of the Method- ist Episcopal Church, including records of the Freedmen's Aid Society and helpful secondary treatments concerning Negroes in the MethodiSt Church.
