Description
Historic sites associated with LGBTQ history are an important yet underrepresented part of American history. LGBTQ history requires a change in thinking about interpretation and integrity with an open eye and a willingness to search for queer documentation, placing emphasis on a site’s integrity based on its association with the LGBTQ community’s social history. The Pauli Murray Family Home in Durham, NC, and the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum in Chicago are used as case studies to illustrate some of these challenges.
