The Negro League ballparks and stadiums that remain today represent a time in history when Black athletes were barred from playing in the major leagues and they stand as a direct response to systemic racism. These stadiums were integral parts of their communities, creating commerce and fueling jobs. Given proper funding, Hinchliffe and Hamtramck stadiums can be restored to their former glory or repurposed to meet the current needs of their communities.
