Included in this folder are letters exchanged between McDaniel Lewis and Adjutant General J. Van B. Metts. Topics of discussion include guidelines for sending off selectees and registration statistics from Guilford County for World War I and World War II. Letters also discuss a request for an increase of salary for Board Clerk R.L. Alexander. Memoranda outline procedures for accepting appointment in the Selective Service and expectations regarding the political activity of Selective Service personnel (the Hatch Act is referenced).
