In this transcript of a March 7, 1977, oral history interview conducted by Eugene Pfaff with McNeill Smith, Smith describes how his career in law began, gives some of his early work experiences, and tells of his involvement in associations such as the United World Federalists. He primarily discusses the Junius Scales case, including explanation of the Smith Act, and the Speaker Ban Act case, including a history of previous related events and events leading up to the Ban.
