Description

These two letters, dated July 12, 1963, and written by Warren Ashby, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro include statements of Ashby's position on civil rights in general and the pending Civil Rights Act in specific. Ashby writes to Senator Sam Ervin, Jr., and to Representative Horace R. Kornegay, asking for passes for his family to enter the gallery on an upcoming trip. However, the second and third paragraphs of each letter urge the two members of Congress to support civil rights legislation, and noting that Greensboro has already making "painful steps in that direction."
