This scrapbook, titled "Sewing Book Made with Instructions used by State Normal and Industrial School" by an unidentified student, dates from 1893 to 1894. The scrapbook contains loose leaves of sewing stitch models with written narratives on how the stitches are constructed, as well as instructions for a sewing course at the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro). Descriptions appear on versos and a few mounted fabric samples appear on rectos. Many samples are missing, and some pages are blank.
