Scott Maitland opened Top of the Hill (TOPO) brewpub on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill in 1994. Maitland is also a military veteran and an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at UNC Chapel Hill. In this interview, he discusses the founding and evolution of TOPO, changes to Franklin Street since TOPO's founding in 1994, the addition of distilling to TOPO's portfolio, and ways in which the craft beer industry and the consumer market have changed over the past 30 years.
