Description

LaShonda Sousa was born in 2001 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She is the youngest of five children in her family and attended Gray's Creek High School in Hope Mills, NC. Sousa discovered UNCG through her sister, who attended GTCC, and chose UNCG because she felt it was the best fit for her. At the time of this interview, she was a junior majoring in Political Science with a pre-law concentration and Religious Studies, minoring in History and German. Sousa discusses working while attending UNCG, including her work in the Student Government Association (SGA); involvement in campus activities; the campus climate for minority and LGBTQ+ students; and discusses, at length, her experiences attending UNCG during the COVID-19 pandemic from its beginning in Spring 2020 through the time of the interview (Spring 2022). Sousa ends the interview with a discussion of the type of students that attend UNCG and her plans for the upcoming summer and senior year
