Speeches composed by Dr. Charles D. McIver from about 1890 to 1900. Many of the notes and speeches advocate for better education for women and children throughout the southern United States. Topics include Dr. McIver's views about universal education, taxation for public schools and teacher salaries, the relationship between the home and the school, educational benefactors, the examples of Booker T. Washington and Daniel Webster, the Peabody Board, Peabody Normal College, a possible list of Dr. McIver's speeches and dates (Item 057), and the Junior Order of United American Mechanics.
