Description

This April 4, 1973,letter from University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Student Senate President Cheryl Sosnik to UNCG Chancellor James Sharbrough Ferguson, states that the Student Senate had voted on April 3, 1973 to disregard Ferguson's mandate to reinstate recognition to the Neo-Black Society pending notification from the chancellor that he had suspended the grant of power giving the Student Senate control over such matters. On March 26, 1973, SGA voted to reclassify (removed funding and recognition from) the Neo-Black Society. The SGA decision was overturned by university administration, resulting in an eventual legal case that led to the Neo-Black Society's reinstatement as a recognized and funded organization.
