This letter, dated May 2, 1973, from University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Chancellor James Sharbrough Ferguson is a response to twelve student senators and consuls at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) who wrote the UNCG Board of Trustees on April 19, 1973 asking that their names not be associated with an appeal filed against the Ferguson's decision involving the Neo-Black Society. In his letter, Ferguson acknowledges receipt of the request and mentions that no actual appeal has yet been filed, although a lawsuit has been. In the On March 26, 1973, SGA had voted to reclassify (removed funding and recognition from) the Neo-Black Society. The SGA decision was overturned by university administration on the basis of faulty evidence and improper procedure by SGA, resulting in an eventual legal case that led to the Neo-Black Society's reinstatement as a recognized and funded organization.
