The women in the photograph wear a combination of WAVES [Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, U.S. Navy] clothing that is outside of standard regulation. They have on the standard WAVES white t-shirt and blue tie. This is combined with the non-striped dress of the WAVES gray working dress. They all have on the standard WAVES service cap, some with white or blue hat covers.
