Hennessy recalls how her worldview from a young age influenced her decision to join the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, and the religious and nursing education she received. She describes the circumstances surrounding her inability to deploy to Vietnam, and her use of the GI Bill to study anesthesia at the University of Kansas.
