Description

Primarily documents the life of "BJ" Kramer and her service with the Army Nurse Corps. Kramer recalls her introduction to the Army Nurse Corps and the training she received during nursing school. She also describes her reasons behind volunteering to serve in Vietnam, her experiences under hostile fire, and the difficulty of interacting with soldiers she knew would die. Kramer recalls the great respect she felt for the enlisted soldiers, the mentoring she provided to and received from younger nurses, and her ultimate realization that she could not keep up with the technological and medical advances of the nursing field.
