Description

Primarily documents the life of Shelley Witzke Kirk and her service with the United States Navy. Kirk recalls surviving six weeks of "initiation" after her promotion to Chief Petty Officer, the satisfaction she felt when she was finally pinned as a Chief, and the significance of the Charge Book she received afterwards, containing history of the U.S. Navy, and words of wisdom from all her Chiefs. Kirk discusses the admiration she had for her husband and his position as a Chief, the rewarding feeling she got from reaching milestones on her own accord, and her need, as Chief, to give soldiers the tools and guidance they needed to succeed.
