Description
Primarily documents the life of Deanna Secore Magee and her service with the United States Marine Corps. Magee recalls often times being the lone female in her platoon, and having to work as hard as the males to prove herself and gain acceptance. She also describes the difficulty of having to be away from her children when she was sent on unaccompanied overseas tours, but also how this enabled her to focus more on her duties. Magee recalls the many mentors she had throughout her time in the U.S. Marine Corps that helped her succeed in life and the military, and her belief in the importance of communication between veterans.
