Description

Primarily documents the life of Tasheera Farrington-Nichols Marshall and her service with the United States Army and United States Army Reserve. Marshall recalls having to move many times as child due to her father's military career, how his service encouraged her to enlist, and her belief that doing so exposed her to more adventure than her friends who did not join the military. She also describes the high stress environment of the recruiting station in Colorado, and her belief that it affected her advancement in the army. Marshall also describes the importance as a commander to make connections with individual soldiers, and her belief that the army needs to focus more on support for spouses and children when it comes to separations, deployments, and relocations.
