Puckett recalls attending basic training, and the difficulties of being away from home for the longest she had ever been. She also recalls feeling unable to relate to college students when she began attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) due to their vastly different experiences, but how she eventually found a support network of other military veteran students. Puckett also expresses her gratitude towards her UNCG professors being supportive of the need for her to attend annual military trainings.
