Vance describes the journey to Tan Son Nhut, Vietnam, the way she felt as the only female officer working in her office, and her belief that some military men resented her because they felt they had to be protective of her in all situations. Vance recalls the many places she was stationed over the years, her contentment with not having to manage people, and her belief that a person has to want to serve their country to be successful in the military.
