Theresa Scott discusses family, education, basic school, other military assignments including Iraq and her 9/11 experience, her experience as Corporal, her experience after the military – jobs, and the impact of the military. She discusses that she joined the Marines to show the men that women are not weak, and she was constantly reminded that she was a woman. She also talks about how her knee injury affected her and how it changed how she moved forward in the military. Scott discusses her exposure to life on a ship and how being on a ship affected her after the military, in relation to the cramped quarters. Scott also discusses her jobs after the military, including working at a Blockbuster and teaching at Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. Scott talks about the impact that the military had on her, her experience with “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” and how she defines patriotism.
