Geraldine Smith Richardson was born in 1915. She was commissioned as an army nurse in 1942 and sailed aboard the SS Brazil with the 159th Station Hospital which was assigned to the Malir Desert near Karachi, India (modern Pakistan). During World War II, she served in South Africa at Capetown and also throughout the China Burma India Theater. She served temporary duty with the 97th Station Hospital at Agra, India and with the 178th Station Hospital in Ramgarh, India. Later she served in Germany, Japan and the United States. Her last assignment before she retired in 1961 was at the 11th Field Hospital in Augsburg, Germany.
