Marie M. Mason (b. 1916) served overseas in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Marie M. Mason was born in Swan Quarter, North Carolina in 1916. She entered nurses' training at Park View hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina upon completing high school at the age of 16. After completing three years of training, she worked as a nurse before entering Campbell College (now Campbell University, near Raleigh, North Carolina) in 1939. She attended Campbell for two years before changing schools to Meredith College, in Raleigh, and then entering the service in 1943. Mason attended Army Nurse Corps training at Camp Davis in Holly Ridge, North Carolina, where she stayed from February to August of 1943 before being sent to Italy.
