Elizabeth Hickcox (b. 1923?) of Glassboro, New Jersey, served in the United States Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) from March 1944 to December 1945. Elizabeth Betty Jordan Hickcox (b. 1923?) was born in Woodstown, New Jersey, and grew up in Glassboro, New Jersey. After graduating from high school in 1941, she worked at a sewing factory, a bottle cap factory, and a department store before taking a job on the docks with Standard Oil of New York. Hickcox joined the WAVES in March 1944. She completed basic training and then Cooks and Bakers school at Hunter College in New York.
