Irene Meyers Rich (b. 1950) of Anchorage, Alaska, served in the United States Army Nurse Corps from 1972 to 1999. From 1994 to 1998, Rich was the director of the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program at Fort Detrick, Maryland. Irene Aurelia Meyers Rich was born in Los Angeles, California, on 20 October 1950. The family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, when Rich was nine, and she graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1968. She attended one year of college at Arizona State University before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG).
