Jill Corbusier Mayer (b. 1945) served in the Navy Nurse Corps from 1966-1976 and in the Reserves from 1976-1978. Jill Corbusier Mayer was born 27 January 1945 in Yonkers, New York, but spent her adolescence in Eastchester, New York. After losing both her mother and father at a young age, Mayer went to live with a friend of her mother's. She participated in Girl Scouts, sang in the school choir, and volunteered at a local hospital. After graduating high school in 1962, Mayer attended nursing school in Poughkeepsie, New York. In 1966, Mayer joined the United States Navy Nurse Corps and was sent to Officers Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island.
