Kathryn Fulner Wakefield (1920-2012) of Hillsdale, New Jersey, performed clerical work in the WAAC (Women's Auxiliary Army Corps) and the WAC (Women's Army Corps) from 1943 to 1945. Kathryn Fulner Wakefield was born in Brooklyn, New York, on 29 February 1920, and raised in Hillsdale, New Jersey. In 1939, she graduated from Park Ridge High School. She went on to complete a four year business course and work in a leather tannery office in New York. Wakefield enlisted in the WAAC in 1943 and was sent to Daytona Beach, Florida, for basic training. She then attended the Army Administration School in Alpine, Texas.
