The majority of the photographs in this album center on the life of the Bynum family of Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Included are numerous images of Hyla Bynum, who married Fred Cundiff (also from Wilkes County) in 1944. They knew each other from an early age. This is a rich collection of images of life of African Americans in a rural North Carolina county in the early 20th century. There are exterior and interior images; views of schools, sports, automobiles, the North Wilkesboro Fire Department fire engine (page 029). There are also several documents relating to Hyla's education inclouding report cards (page 035-037)
