Description

Cheryl Jester Poteat tells of her early life and career, basic training and duties in the United States Air Force as an imagery interpreter specialist, involvement with veterans' groups, including Women in Military Service for America, and involvement with JROTC training after her service. Poteat discusses specifics of her specialization, leisure-time activities at the various locations of her service, particular accomplishments during her service, and political figures of the time, especially Richard Nixon. She also tells of being blocked from reenlisting, despite her accomplishments in her service, which she ascribes to a personality clash with a particular supervisor.
